The Textile Museum of Sweden is one of the Nordic region’s leading textile museums, and the only permanent venue for textile art in the Nordic countries. A place for meetings, creativity, the sharing of knowledge and experiences about textile heritage with a global perspective. It specialises in fashion, textile design, textile art, the textile industry and innovative textiles.

The Textile Museum of Sweden forms part of the Textile Fashion Center in central Borås –a district where education, industry and the public sector meet. We cooperate to convey current textile development and research that will become the textile history of the future. Our collections include thousands of fabrics, samples, clothes and other textiles with the emphasis from the mid 19th century onwards. The permanent exhibition Textilchock! takes a broad look at textile design, and shows that textiles are to be found in many more areas than most people are aware. The Textile Museum of Sweden also has one of Europe’s leading collections of textile machinery. In the spring of 2016, a new permanent exhibition on the textile industry will open. In addition to exhibitions, the museum also offers DIY activities for all ages, including textile crafts and the chance to try on clothes in the Dressing Room.
